Ecosystem Services Observation Network

(ESON)

ESON aims to design and create a comprehensive network to monitor coastal ecosystems in California, taking advantage of technological advances in sensors and remote systems as well as human networks. This infrastructure is necessary to take the pulse of coastal ecosystems, spanning their structure, function, and services provided to people, to better manage and restore them.

ESON is led by the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) Marine Science Institute, and is part of the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Coastlines and People (CoPe) Program.
